Subjects.
The experiment was announced to several newsgroups and mailing lists and made available to the general Internet public via our HTTP server. Due to the special characteristics of this experiments (our subjects being far removed from our immediate control) we had very little control over the actions of our 'remote' subjects:
- their browsing behaviour could not be controlled or monitored
- registration of individual characteristics was entirely voluntary, only a small minority of participants used the suggested a-mail adres to return their evaluation and personal data.
The result being that only very partial data was retrieved concerning gender, language, nationality, etc. of our subjects.
