It is unfortunate that many people seek to define the meaning of
life in terms od external criteria. If most were to introspect,
they would indeed find the meaning within themselves, for it is
only within oneself that one's own personal "meaning" can be
obtained. Those seeking a universal definition are the same
who find themselves making all of their decisions based on what
they perceive others would like them to do.
Those that have formulated their own personal expression of the
meaning of life make decisions based on the premise of self
betterment, preservation and the attainment of ones personal
goals and satisfation. This is not to be summed up with the
trite "look out for number one", because this would imply the
self-centeredness of a child. Instead, when looking within,
and searching for what acomplishments and goals one wishes to
persue, one must also associate each encounter with others from
the standpoint of "how can this person or situation forward or
benefit my movement forwards. Injuring others invariably sets
ones own motion on sideways courses, whether now or later.
Helping others and helping oneself are not mutually exclusive!
